Applicant Screening can be helpful

By: kurtgabriel

There is accompanying risk to the company for any applicant for job in any business establishment. Being dishonest on a job application is easy but public records cannot deny. Conducting background checks, the employer can detect whether an applicant is a college graduate or not, or whether or not he or she was convicted for a crime. Statistics show that more than 20% of applicants lie to some degree on job applications. Being not too careful can cost thousands of dollars from the company.
Background checks will shield the company from any number of dangers presented by dishonest employees. Screening all potential employees is a reliable way to find necessary information about their job applicants, prevent any of this damage from happening. While insurance may not protect against everything, routine background checks will help keep convicted felons, sexual offenders, and repeat drug offenders out of your business.
The objective of background searches on people today is to protect the general welfare. Several people don’t even know the importance of the history of the people they involve themselves with until it is too late. Background checks, properly implemented, will protect you, your boss or employees, your landlord, and even your children.

For instance, an employer will often run back round checks on perspective employees to see if they have a criminal record in order to protect his costumers, as well as his business. From corporate lawyers who have questionable pasts, warehouse personnel who have histories in theft, access to criminal records protect the company, and can also protect the customers they deal with.

A medical institution will undertake extensive background checks on doctors and nurses to make sure they are qualified and competent to care for you and your children. Most often there is no need for such checks, but prevention is better than cure.

The ability to check public records on any particular person is invaluable. This is not going against his right to privacy, but the point is that these searches only go through public records that are available to anyone with time and money on their hands. The Freedom of Information Act insures the access to a person’s criminal record or financial history. All this information is in the hands of the public through government databases.
