Doing something on a regular basis becomes a habit. A habit becomes easy as you do it so often. If you can make your Virtual Assistant Marketing a half hour habit a day your business will take off. If you don't market at all your business will wither and die. There is a simple and easy method of marketing that most marketers forget to tell you about. It is called the Persistence Factor You may wonder what that is. Well it goes like this: * Monday could be the day you contact a couple of clients who you have not worked with for a while to see how they and their businesses are. Just a polite enquiry is enough to remind them that you are still there and it is amazing how often that turns into work. * On Tuesday send that interesting article you cut out of a magazine to any relevant clients with a note that you hope that it is useful * I say Wednesday for this item but Networking meetings happen on most days of the week. If you get invited go along armed with business cards. Listen to what is being said, take any business cards offered and use the back to make notes on what was said and exactly what they do. * On Thursday phone some clients to ensure the work is going well or any previous work was satisfactory. If there were not any problems, ask for a testimonial and also more work if you have space in your diary. * Friday is keeping track of marketing day. If you do not make notes in your diary or Outlook regarding who you have phoned/contacted and what the outcome was you will soon get lost. You will see that you have made contact with many businesses, mainly while you were sitting at your desk. It took you only about half an hour a day and it may even have generated work the first week you did this. But we have not finished with the Persistence factor yet. Do this on a weekly basis - week in and week out Now if you think how many people you would meet or contact over say 48 weeks in the year, four or 5 days a week - it amounts to an awful lot of marketing. No one event apart from the networking meeting lasts very long but you are building a reverse pyramid of prospective clients and some will come back. What about the rest of the world? There are many forums on the Internet. Not just for Virtual Assistants but also for the types of client you have. You can learn about your clients work by joining their forums and getting good background knowledge of their skills. You can also get to know other VAs who may live on anther continent from you and occasionally you may get work passed to you from them. This has happened to me and I have passed work on to others. You can add 10 minutes a day on forums as a good marketing experience. I probably spend more than that. We need now to go back to the beginning. Get out your diary or Outlook and write down your ideal tasks for each day of the week. You may go to a Breakfast Meeting one day of the week, put that in as one day covered. Do not do things you hate doing. I have never cold-called for myself as I dislike it so much The habit of doing something every day at the same time is something that many famous writers and artists have done. If you do not make your advertising a habit you will not do it, there will always be something else to do. If success and a good career as a VA is what you are looking for then be organised in your marketing and you will be surprised how easy virtual assistant marketing really is.
