Controlling frames is a very important hypnosis skill to learn and refine because it is extremely powerful. This is one of the most important concepts to grasp and apply to your subject. In one way to control the frames of various interactions is to take control of the interactions themselves. There are different ways in which you can control and manipulate frames. There are essentially four options you have, to maintain your frame, preframe, reframe and deframe. Of the four framing options maintaining your frame and preframing are the most important and powerful in Conversational Hypnosis. Choose maintaining your frame as your first option to exercise. To do so you will have to arm yourself with non-reaction. This means to act as if the frame that your hypnotic subject believes just doesn't exist, and this will cause them to doubt their own frame, and place more value on yours. By ignoring the fact that their frame is of consideration will cause insecurities in their own frame and reinforce your stance. After beginning to maintain your frame, you should be preframing, which requires more thought and calculations in comparison. If it is possible to assume and imply, then very often your frame will take your word to heart, and will unconsciously register implications and assumptions as the truth. The next strategy in framing is the reframe. Begin to shine a positive light on a frame that was previously being regarded negatively by a subject. You can also use a context reframe, which is to chance the context that the frame is placed in. Deframing is the last way in which you will control and manipulate frames. Deframing is to turn the table on the person who is raising an objection to your frame. You simply switch the role, reverse the challenge. As a challenge is raised to your frame instead of explaining it away you will challenge the frame they are set in. The only thing you have to be careful about with deframing is to maintain that positive or light attitude, or else you can easily look negative or aggressive, and this will not bode well with your hypnotic subject's trust and comfort with you.
