Study Skills - Within Everyones Grasp
By :
Sara Mendez
According to the National Education Association (NEA.Org), the national drop out rate is still high. In 2006, the national drop out rate was 68%. The Oregon Department of Education says drop out rates for Oregon are dropping. In 2006/2007 the rate dropped from 4.3% the previous year to 4.1%, which is about 7,400 students which may not seem like a lot for a state, but this number still should cause some alarm. What is even more shocking is the amount of students who study at home. According to NCES.Org, 12% of 4th graders spend one hour at home studying while the number increased to 37% of 12th graders. The numbers may increase as grade levels increase, however that means 63% of 12th graders are not studying at home.

Do YOU feel Guilty? Disappointed? Hidden Effects of Divorce
By :
Charlotte Kamman
My divorce was a pretty easy process. I never thought about the effects of divorce back then, neither for me or for our daughter. My ex-hubby and I never really fought, we just decided that we were making each other unhappy instead of happy, and that it would be better for both of us to move on. What I never could have imagined, is that the mere fact of our marriage going down the drain, would still have a big emotional impact on my daughter and me for the years to come. I started to discover only recently, that some of my feelings where I feel guilty and disappointed, stem from that time, when we decided to split up.

What Is Your Sofa Style?
By :
Catherine Olivia
So it's time for you to buy a new sofa. Is it something that has to be more difficult than going to the furniture store and pointing to one and saying, "I want that"? Yes, or no. When you make any purchase, and something as big as a sofa, you want to do some homework and put some thought into it so that you get the best you can for your hard earned money. Most people have the same sofa somewhere between 5 and 8 years. That's longer than some people own a car. If you're going to be best friends with your sofa for that length of time put a bit of consideration into your decision so you'll be happy with it.
Building Your Own Vs. Buying A Bunk Bed
By :
Patrick Oakley
There are a lot of good reasons why you might choose to build your own bed, instead of buying one ready made. The most commonly cited reason, which may or may not be relevant to you, is the price. Building a bed tends to be much cheaper then buying one ready made, although if you buy second hand you can get a good, rugged bunk bed for under $150. You might be able to get a new one at that price, as well, but I seriously doubt that any bed you buy that cheaply will be well made enough to be worth having. As you know, if you want quality, it will come at a price... Unless you buy it from someone else.
